≪Story≫
In the year 2022, genius programmer Kayaba Akihiko developed the world's first device that utilized FullDive technology: «NerveGear». This innovative machine brought infinite possibility to the world of VR (virtual reality).
Four years later...
The successor to «NerveGear», the VR machine «AmuSphere», is challenged when a wearable multi-device goes on the market. It is called «Augma». In place of FullDive, this cutting edge machine broadens and maximizes the use of a function called AR (Augmented Reality).
«Augma», safe, convenient, and can be used while awake, gains a huge user base in the blink of an eye. One development among this explosive expansion is an ARMMORPG that utilizes «Augma», called ≪Ordinal Scale (OS)≫.
Asuna and the others play it, and Kirito decides he'd like to give it a try too...
